Deadline Extension Considerations
The optional questions in this section are designed to help guide considerations of reasonableness within this specific course.
Based on the syllabus, what are the standard policies for accepting late work, and what is the standard grade penalty for turning work in past the original deadline?
Are late work exceptions ever granted under circumstances unrelated to disability, such as for athletic events or religious observances?
Are there any assignments in the class that would be particularly difficult to make up?

This may include assignments for which answers are released immediately upon being due, assignments that involve group or team work, or assignments that build sequentially in content.

After discussing the requirements of the class, student and instructor agree to the following occasional deadline flexibility plan. Should the student or the instructor need further guidance and any point in the creation or implementation of this plan, please contact the student's Disability Services Specialist.
How many and which types of assignments in the class may be accepted late without penalty to the student?

This number should reflect the maximum number of assignments the student can complete behind schedule before fundamentally altering essential course requirements/expectations/outcomes, and may be expressed as a percentage of assignments, or a number of assignments.
Are there any exceptional assignments or deadlines that cannot be changed or which would have a shorter possible extension?

This may include long-term assignments, group assignments, or assignments where answers are released in class.
How should the student notify the instructor if they need a deadline extension?

Include method of communication and timeframe. Note: At no time are students required to present documentation to instructors in order to justify a disability-related absence.
How will the student's grade be impacted if they miss the extended deadline?
