Get Registered with a Dedicated UIC DRS Counselor!

The Illinois Department of Human/Rehabilitation Services (DHS/DRS) is the Illinois' lead agency serving persons with disabilities. DRS counselors work one-on-one with individuals with disabilities and their families to empower them to reach their employment, education, and independent living goals. This means DRS can provide resources and support well beyond what UIC DRC can offer! Previous UIC students working with DRS have been approved for tuition assistance, purchase of technology, assistance paying for personal care attendants, assistance finding employment, and more!

The Disability Resource Center at UIC has worked with the Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) to secure DRS University Counselors dedicated to serving UIC students with disabilities and providing them with registration assistance and support!

If you are interested in speaking to a UIC-dedicated DRS counselor to learn more, complete the following steps:

  1. Complete the DRS Referral Form (also available at short URL: go.uic.edu/DRSForm)
  2. Under the item “How did the applicant learn about DRS? (Referral Source)” write in “UIC DRC”
  3. Save the form and send to malisha.webber@illinois.gov as an attachment
  4. Someone from DRS will email you from an @illinois.gov address detailing next steps, it's not spam!

Please note: This Illinois-based service is unfortunately only available for individuals with Social Security Numbers, and SSN is required for completion of the form.

Also note: Students with home addresses in other states must register with a counselor in their home state, rather than Illinois.
